Transportation and Infrastructure Minister Abdulkadir Uraloğlu announced that Türksat, which has established Turkey's digital infrastructure, will implement a new project. Minister Uraloğlu stated that with the Gölbasi Data Center to be established in Ankara, they will meet the need for all data and cloud services with local software to ensure the business continuity of institutions housing critical information. Minister Uraloğlu stated, "The Gölbasi Data Center, with its massive 28,500 square meter area, will be one of Turkey's largest data centers." Uraloğlu mentioned that the design and planning studies for the Data Center to be established at Türksat's Gölbasi campus have been completed, and construction, electrical infrastructure, mechanical infrastructure, and telecommunication infrastructure of the project will start this year. With the investment to be made, Türksat's existing data center physical capacity will increase by 3 floors in the first phase and over 8 floors in the second phase. The Türksat Gölbasi Data Center is planned to have 6 system rooms, 2 high-performance rooms with 20 cabins each, and a 6,000 square meter white space, with a 200-person capacity office working area in the facility. The center with a 21 MVA installed power capacity will be established in accordance with LEED-Gold certification for energy efficiency, Uptime Institute TIER-III, and TSE 50600 data center standards. The data center will have the necessary infrastructure for services such as data analysis, processing of data clusters, training algorithms, modeling, forecasting, classification, and high-speed mathematical calculations under topics such as artificial intelligence applications, deep learning, data mining, machine learning. The center will ensure that even the largest institutions and organizations in Turkey receive secure and uninterrupted services in extraordinary situations, preventing interruptions in services under e-Government projects. Uraloğlu mentioned that the data center, which will have low carbon emissions and high energy efficiency, aims to provide Turkey with an environmentally friendly facility. Additionally, Türksat, which will operate as a major player to ensure competition in the sector and save in the public sector, will serve the purpose of effectively utilizing the country's resources. The Gölbasi Data Center, whose foundation will be laid this year, is planned to be operational in the first half of 2027.
