According to the data from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK), the number of single-person households in Turkey has been continuously increasing. The number of people living alone in 2015 was 3,113,496, which rose to 5,321,540 in 2024, showing a 71% increase over the past 10 years. The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic was particularly significant in 2020 and 2021, leading to a notable increase in the number of people living alone. In major cities such as Istanbul, Ankara, and Izmir, the highest concentration of individuals living alone was observed. The data indicates a shifting trend towards more single-person households in Turkey.
