KAAN's 2nd Prototype Revealed for the First Time by Haluk Görgün

Defense Industry President Haluk Görgün held a press conference at the Presidency of Defense Industries regarding the 2024 export figures and 2025 targets. Görgün stated that in the defense industry sector, more than 300 products were exported to 180 countries in 2024. He noted that out of 3,500 firms in the defense industry, 1,600 engaged in exports. The top 10 export destinations included 5 European countries, with the main export products being UAVs, drones, smart missiles, military helicopters, and air radar systems. ASELSAN's high-performance electro-optic reconnaissance, surveillance, and targeting system ASELFLIR-500 developed for UAVs, helicopters, and aircraft were exported to 16 countries in 2024. Görgün mentioned that they aimed to increase the export figure of 7 billion dollars to double-digit levels within 2 years. He also reported that the total value of export contracts signed in 2023 and 2024 exceeded 20 billion dollars. Görgün also shared the image of the 2nd prototype of the national combat aircraft KAAN for the first time. He announced the production of a total of 6 KAAN prototypes and stated that they would deliver KAAN in 2028, operating with a domestic engine in the 2030s. The 5th generation combat aircraft KAAN, developed by Turkish Aerospace Industries Inc. (TAI) within the project initiated according to the needs of the Turkish Air Force Command, had its first flight on February 21, 2024.
